On January 30, researchers of Centre for East European Policy Studies had a meeting with students of political science from Netherlands.

CEEPS referred to Leiden University students’ interest in learning more about the research activities of the centre and the current developments in the research region.

The executive director of CEEPS Andis Kudors and researcher Māris Cepurītis introduced guests to the situation in the EU’s Eastern neighborhood and novelties of the EU Eastern Partnership implementation, thus forming an idea of ​​its importance within the wider EU policy framework and the run-up to Latvian Presidency of the EU Council. Students showed a particular interest for Russia and it’s influence to neighboring countries.

Students of Leiden University visited Riga within the study trip. Each year two study trips for a select group of about 40 students of Political Science are organized. The purpose of these journeys is to acquire more knowledge about both the culture and the political situation in other countries and to see how political organizations and institutions work in practice.

Previous years students visited the capitals of Spain, Slovakia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, India and Israël. In these countries they had meetings with politicians, diplomats, journalists, professors and researchers.
