The Centre for East European Policy Studies (CEEPS) recommends to acquaint yourself with the recently by Yale University Press issued book „Beyond Crimea. The New Russian Empire” whose author is Agnia Grigas, researcher at the Atlantic Council.
While characterizing the new book, Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves has indicated: “A compelling analysis of the drivers and methods of Moscow’s foreign policy, demonstrating how Russia leverages its compatriots and employs a mix of soft power, disinformation, cyber and hybrid warfare. This book should serve as a wake-up call for Western policy makers and their publics.”
In her book, the author explains the use of Russian compatriots’ policy, soft power and information warfare instruments in its neighbouring countries, including Latvia. The text comprises repeated quotations from the CEEPS’s book “The “Humanitarian Dimension” of Russian Foreign Policy toward Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and the Baltic States”, issued in 2009, as well as information from the author’s interview with the CEEPS’s Executive director Andis Kudors has been used.
