Discussion “Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine: the impact of occupied territories on the EU integration process”

On September 19, a discussion on the impact of occupied territories of Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine on the future of Eurointegration process, on the clash of Russia’s and the EU interests in the Eastern Partnership member countries.

Russia has recently proposed deployment of the UN peacekeepers in Donbas, however not on the Ukraine – Russia frontier, but between the territories under control of rebels and Ukrainian government. In its turn, Moldova calls Russia to withdraw a part of its troops from Transdniester. Over the period of several years, Georgia has implemented significant reforms whose outcome has been diminished by Russia’s control of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. What is the Georgian, Moldovan and Ukrainian diplomats’ view of the possible course of events in the short and middle term, considering the tension in the Eastern Partnership region?
